Former President Bill Clinton promotes healthy school meals in Miami

Friday, January 21, 2011 was an exciting day for Miami-Dade County Public schools Department of Food and Nutrition.  Former President Bill Clinton was at Miami Edison Middle School, an Alliance for a Healthier Generation award winning school to make a special announcement that will help to make sure local children grow up to be a healthy generation.

In addition to Miami Edison Middle School, students and teachers from 18 other Alliance for a Healthier Generation award winning Miami-Dade Schools were on hand to hear President Clinton announce groundbreaking industry agreements to help increase availability of healthy school meals for more than 30 million students across the country.

The initiative has thirteen leading school meals manufacturers, group purchasing organizations and technology companies joining forces to make healthy meals available.
